The voice of kids!

It’s hard to believe that the first quarter of school is almost over, another week and report cards come out.

I have to say I love my school. I go to Maranatha Christian Academy and I must say we have the best teachers ever. I feel really privileged to know I am getting a terrific education and because our class sizes are smaller than most schools we are an advanced curriculum which means that my dream of becoming a doctor and going to Harvard will be a reality because if you really want something you’ve got to be extremely positive and know that it will come true.

Every year in October, my middle school which is the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grades do a “Wax Museum”. Since I am in the 5th grade this year this was my 1st time participating in it. All the students had to present a biography on a person of their choice like someone famous past or present and then write a two minute speech about them which we had to memorize.

Then last week all four grades presented a “Wax Museum”. We were all in costumes that we created with props and all standing all around inside the chapel.

Family and friends were all invited. We did it after school so everyone could come. When someone came up to us, we would then say our speech about our person.

Now of course I picked someone whom I wanted to learn about and that was Elvis Aaron Presley. I have to say out of all my school projects, this was my favorite so far. I learned so much about Elvis. I had so much information about his life that my speech was 6 minutes long and I had to get it down to only 2 minutes.

Like did you know Elvis sold over 1,300,000,000 albums world wide. He sold more albums than any other musical artist or group in the world including the Beatles and today half a million fans pass through Graceland every year.

It was so awesome dressing like Elvis. I wore a black leather jacket and black pants. My mom made me these long black sideburns and sprayed my hair black. I wore a black sequin scarf, sunglasses, a microphone and I even had my Elvis Presley guitar.

The “wax Museum” presentation was really awesome with all the students being different people like “John F. Kennedy”, “Sarah Palin”, “David Tyree”, “Shawn Johnson”, “Enzo Ferrari”, “Leonardo DaVinci”, “Marcia Hall”, “Harrison Ford”, “Tony Hawk”, “Jacques Cousteau”, “Jackie Robinson”, “Sacagawea”, “Beyonce and many, many more.

I spoke to some kids in my class about who they picked and why. Michael Sison, 10 years old of Palm Beach Gardens, “I chose John F. Kennedy because he was a great president and leader and I learned he was the youngest elected president.”

Then I spoke with Melody Gload, 11 years old of Palm Beach Gardens, “I chose Sacagawea because she was so amazing, She led Lewis and Clark through the wilderness and she also carried two babies in the wilderness.”

Last I spoke with Lewis Young, 10 years old of Palm Beach Gardens, “I chose Jackie Robinson because he was a great baseball player and learned he was the first African American baseball player.”

Well, I want to wish everyone whom celebrates the Jewish holidays “La Shana Tovah” and continue making memories with family and friends.
